Ok, ok- so maybe I’m a little out of the loop on this one but hey, I’m still new to Johannesburg! I have recently discovered Arts on Main, and yes, I’ve gone mad for the place!
Anyhow, it seems that on one recent Sunday (a day which shall remain unnamed) my friends and I arrived a tad late (this was totally ‘my bad’, btw) and thus managed to catch the tail end of all the stalls packing up…but it was because of this tardiness that we caught sight of a magical black board that told us about the 12 Decades Art Hotel with a 360 view of Jozi. So off we went and boy did we feel like we’d fallen down the rabbit hole. After walking past wall mounted sneakers with pansies growing out of them, through a flat cube door, into a 1950’s lift complete with a bookcase and fez wearing bell boy, up 8 stories and onto a roof top sprinkled with sculptures, we were in the city center sipping cocktails and ordering kebabs on the braai…
