X marks the spot.

Today was such a lovely Autumn day, filled with excitement and energy due to the local elections. I certainly hope that you exercised your constitutional right and voted! I’m proud to say that I managed to scribble my ‘x’ this morning, and then promptly hit Woolies for the Trenery/Country Road sale. (Watch this space for a peek at my beautiful sale finds…)

About vocationalgirl

I am a strategic planner, neurotic wordsmith and art lover with a penchant for anything digital- my forte being digital marketing. I love that this field encompasses both creativity as well as a thorough understanding of data analytics- it is a true social science that bases company revenue on modeling client behavior in the online space, looking at means to optimize conversion and effectively modifying behavior. I am a perpetual executive student, and am currently in the midst of completing my MBA at the top rated business university in Africa (GIBS). My academic interests include: Increasing social mobility in emerging markets through technology. The ekphrasic relationship between abstract expressionist art and poetry. French feminist theory and its applications for women working in male gendered roles. Skills: Digital strategic planning Conversion optimization Web Analytics Digital media strategy Project management Writing and editing

Vocational Girl – help I'm a woman in crisis. I have only two pairs of winter shoes – the first – black knee high boots. The second, brown skechers. I have been to numerous shops, and can only find either ballet type shoes or ankle boots. Ballet shoes cause issues, as you have to wear them with socks or pantihose in the winter. Pantihose are uncomfortable under a pair of pants, and socks look – well – odd. Also, I think that ankle boots with anything other than pants look – well – odd…. and I can already get the same effect with my knee-high boots if I'm wearing pants. There doesn't seem to be any other options at the shops available to me. What do I do – where do I go from here?

Well hello anon! Um, I don’t proclaim to be an expert or anything but my suggestion, given your comments, would be to buy yourself a pair of brogues. They have some really beautiful pairs at Mememe (in Long st. Cape Town and Park Hurst Johannesburg) and I’ve seen one or two pairs at Aldo. I wear my Steve Madden brogues non-stop, they’re really comfortable and look good with dresses and pants. Hope this helps!
